Fabric Care Guide for Wool, Cotton, and More | Eliraya

1. Wool

Washing: Hand wash in cold water or use a wool-specific cycle on your washing machine. Use a mild, wool-friendly detergent and avoid bleach or products with chlorine. Gently agitate; do not wring out.

Drying: Lay flat to dry, avoiding hanging to prevent stretching. Keep out of direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not tumble dry.

2. Down

Washing: Use a down-specific detergent and wash with cold water on a gentle cycle or hand wash. Avoid over-washing to preserve the fluffiness of the down feathers.

Drying: Lay flat to dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting. Adding clean tennis balls or dryer balls helps fluff the down. Avoid direct sunlight.

3. Silk

Washing: Hand wash in cool water (below 30°C/86°F) using a detergent made for silk or delicate fabrics. Avoid soaking for too long and never wring.

Drying: After gently pressing out excess water with a towel, lay the silk flat to dry, away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry or hang, as this may cause stretching.

4. Cotton

Washing: Machine wash in warm or cold water using a standard detergent. Avoid bleach to preserve the fabric’s natural fibers.

Drying: Cotton can be tumble dried on a low or medium heat setting or air-dried. Avoid overheating in the dryer to prevent shrinking.

5. Linen

Washing: Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild detergent and avoid prolonged soaking.

Drying: Lay flat to dry or tumble dry on low. Avoid sun exposure to prevent fading. Linen wrinkles easily, so it’s advisable to steam or iron while slightly damp.

6. Polyester

Washing: Machine wash with cold water and a regular detergent. Avoid excessive agitation to prevent damage to the fibers.

Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or air-dry. High heat can cause polyester to lose its shape, so it's best to use a low-temperature setting.

7. Denim

Washing: Turn denim garments inside out before washing. Use cold water and a gentle detergent. Avoid frequent washing to preserve color and fabric integrity.

Drying: Lay flat or hang to dry. Avoid sun exposure to prevent fading. Low heat ironing can help remove creases.

8. Nylon

Washing: Machine wash with cold water using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach to preserve the fabric’s strength.

Drying: Air-dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting. Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading or material degradation.

9. Rayon

Washing: Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods and gently agitate to clean.

Drying: Lay flat to dry or hang to air dry. Avoid direct sunlight and high heat. Iron on a low setting to smooth out wrinkles.
